Artemis Research is a leading Principal Investigator and Patient Focused clinical research company dedicated to advancing medical treatments. Established in 2008 by colleagues who bring more than 50 years of combined research experience, Artemis specializes in Psychiatry/Neurology and Internal Medicine studies. With multiple locations serving Southern California including San Diego, San Marcos and Riverside, each Artemis site is fully equipped to conduct complex clinical research trials. 

Position Overview:   Under the supervision of the CEO, the Director of People and Culture is a key member of the leadership team who is accountable for creating a highly engaged and happy employee team with a strong company culture.  This role, through close oversight of and collaboration with the Human Resource Coordinator, is also responsible for creating, overseeing, and ensuring the execution of all HR directed activities within the company, which includes processing payroll, assisting with new employee onboarding, terminations, sourcing, hiring, and training, and other HR-related tasks.

Travel: 10%

 

Work Schedule:  38 hours per week; our office hours are: Monday through Thursday: 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, Friday: 8:30 am – 3:00 pm

Required Education and Experience:  

  • 2-3 + years of experience in HR (Required)
  • Bachelor’s Degree (Required)
  • Human Resources Certification (Preferred)
  • Active participant/member in HR boards/on-going education
  • Prior experience in building corporate culture and leading training initiatives (Preferred)

Key Duties/Responsibilities:  

  1. Strategy and Management
    • Work with executive team on company growth and expansion planning and strategy
    • Train, supervise, and develop all personnel within the HR department
    • Work directly with department managers to assist in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters
    • Leads and participates in succession management and workforce planning
    • Provides coaching and mentoring to the executive team
  2. Corporate Culture and Employee Experience
    • Fully accountable for ensuring employee engagement, happiness, and satisfaction by implementing employee facing activities to enhance this, and tracking key applicable metrics
    • Collaborating with the executive team to manage and to host productive retreats for the company
    • Management of internal events, including strategy meetings, training sessions, holiday parties, etc.
    • Provide ideas and strategies to enhance the corporate culture, promote the core values and purpose of the company, and reduce employee attrition
  3. Employee Management and Relations
    • Create workflow and systems to hire new employees in an efficient manner and comply with all regulations
    • Oversight and management of the onboarding process for all new employees to ensure a properly trained and engaged employee
    • Oversight and management of the company’s employee evaluation process and incorporating employee development methods
    • Create and maintain Job descriptions for all positions
    • Conduct annual benchmarking on competitive pay for employees and make recommendations to change as needed to the executive team
    • Create and analyze employee satisfaction surveys using Net Promotor Score, or similar metrics
    • Act as an effective liaison between employees and management
    • Provide a resource for employees to handle difficult situations in a professional and confidential manner
    • Ensure timely, legally compliant resolution to employee relations issues
    • Lead or assist in all termination processes at the company
  4. Training Management
    • Training of managers on HR processes to ensure compliance with all HR regulations and federal and state laws
    • Full oversight and training of managers on applicable HR best practices, such as hiring techniques, improved management skills
    • In collaboration with the executive team, oversight and management of a consistent and successful training program for the staff
    • Oversight of Artemis’s participation in the Employee Training Fund program to ensure full utilization of the funds
  5. Recruitment
    • Work with hiring managers to assess recruitment needs for departments or projects
    • Establish and lead the standard recruiting and hiring practices and procedures needed to recruit and hire a superior labor force
    • Network through industry contacts, association memberships, trade groups, social media, and employees to source new hires
    • Develop a pool of qualified candidates in advance of need
    • Research and recommend new sources for active and passive candidate recruiting
  6. HR policies and Procedures
    • Full management, maintenance, and updating of the corporate employee handbook to ensure compliance with local regulations
    • Ensuring accurate management and maintenance of employee files and company records to ensure compliance with legal regulations and reporting requirements
    • Work with legal counsel and all external vendors to ensure the company is fully in compliance with Federal and State Labor laws
  7. Payroll and Benefits Management
    • Full oversight and management of the payroll vendors and systems
    • Ensuring the company is compliant with all Federal and State laws for compensation, including mandatory meal breaks and overtime
    • Ensuring proper and accurate input of all employee information to eliminate any payroll errors, with a continuing process for quality checks
    • Ensuring payroll is run consistently, smoothly, and with no errors
    • Ensuring proper and accurate input of all employee information into applicable portals to ensure no errors in employee benefits
    • Full management and oversight of all vendors providing benefits including health.
    • Provide resources and accurate information to employees on leave, benefits, company policies
