Product Manager, Geospatial
Product | New York, NY | Full Time
Join the A.I. company tackling some of the most consequential problems facing the world today. Gro Intelligence is a fast-growing, mission-driven data and analytics company dedicated to understanding the interconnected global markets for all agricultural products. From the food we eat to the clothing we wear and the gasoline in millions of cars across the globe, agriculture touches our daily existence like few other industries. And it’s being completely upended by climate change, trade wars, finite global resources, fickle public policies, a growing population and ever-changing human tastes (e.g. organic produce, plant-based proteins, etc). Come help us understand the complex interplay of these various forces and their ripple effect on global markets.
With offices in both New York and Nairobi, and the financial backing of prominent investors including TPG Growth and Data Collective, Gro is a diverse team of more than 70 engineers, scientists, and business professionals. Our team is growing rapidly and we’re looking for highly motivated, intellectually curious individuals with a shared commitment to building software that impacts the world on the most basic level.
Gro has been featured prominently alongside the company’s founder and CEO in several recent outlets including Recode Decode with Kara Swisher, Fast Company’s Most Creative People, Fortune’s Most Powerful Women in Business, and Vanity Fair’s Inside the Hive with Nick Bilton.
We’re looking for a seasoned Product Manager to work with our Geospatial Engineering team on bringing highly granular, dynamic-query and real-time geographic analysis capability to the Gro platform.
What You'll Do:
Drive product development — from conception to launch — of new products built on top of Gro’s market leading agriculture intelligence platform
Work closely with Gro’s customers (which include many of the most prominent names in corporate agribusiness, financial services, consulting, and the public sector) to constantly improve our product based on their needs.
Define, prioritize, and communicate short and long term product goals
Develop a deep understanding of customers by conducting research, data analysis, customer interviews, and usability testing
Interface and collaborate with engineering and science teams
What You Have:
6+ years of experience in product management roles, ideally for companies building data-intensive SaaS products
Prior experience in all aspects of product management across a matrixed organization, managing every aspect of the process from inception through public launch
Keen product intuition and UX design sensibilities, with a strong desire to discover and fulfill the needs of users
Excellent leadership skills and ability to build strong relationships across distinct stakeholders
Analytical chops and know-how in building data-driven decision and measurement systems
Bonus Points for Experience with:
Image processing
Big data processing systems
Agricultural, climate and weather data
Geo product such as Google Earth Engine, MapBox, GeoMesa, OpenStreetMap, Omnisci
Geospatial libraries, formats and APIs (GDAL, geoJSON, s2)
Geospatial raster data, especially global satellite imagery
Interfacing with Fortune 1000 clients
