Project Manager

Architectural | New York | Full Time

Job Description

The Role:

We are currently seeking experienced architects with project management expertise to join our New York studio. Our ideal candidate is highly motivated, well organized, thoughtful, and is experienced in the design and delivery of large, challenging projects. The candidate will exhibit excellent communication skills, leadership and professionalism, enjoys working collaboratively, and is reliable, trustworthy and accountable for deadlines and quality of work.    Role will include close communication and coordination with client-side project management team. The successful candidate will ideally have broad experience and have worked internationally.

 

What You Will Do:

  • Contribute to the delivery of significant projects at different phases
  • Assist the project’s technical director with the coordination and management of deliverables
  • Manage the design team and consultant team’s workplan and phase by phase design schedule, monitoring progress and working with team leaders to ensure timely completion of work
  • Assist with the identification of project risk items, including programming gaps, coordination issues and changes in scope.
  • Assist with programming and the analysis of program information from the client
  • Create workplans and help package team leaders to manage their time and resources, under the guidance and support of the project director and technical director
  • Work closely with the finance team to help process monthly invoicing and reporting.
  • Work in close cooperation with other members of the Grimshaw team and consultants
  • Work with the BIM Manager, BIM Coordinator, and the Computational Design Manager, on training needs, coordination with consultants, and monitoring alignment with the project’s digital objectives and standards.
  • Help contribute to the life of the studio; studio-wide initiatives and challenges; our design and sustainability culture; and the broader social and wellness culture at Grimshaw.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent 5-year professional degree in Architecture from an accredited school required
  • 10+ years’ professional experience
  • Proficiency in Revit is useful but not essential
  • Excellent coordination and communication skills
  • Superb time management and prioritization skills
  • Strong leadership, delegation and management skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail

Desired Experience:

  • Experience working collaboratively in mid to large sized teams essential
  • Experience in the delivery of large, complex document sets is essential
  • Experience in Transportation, Workspace, Science and Technology sectors strongly prioritized
  • Experience working on Middle East region projects beneficial
  • Experience designing net-zero carbon projects preferred
  • Experience in Hospitality, Residential and Sports sectors also valuable
