ABOUT This Position: Software Engineer (DevOps Engineer)

Responsibilities (along with your teammates)

  • Assist in the management of services and products inside of AWS/GCP for our operations or on behalf of our clients
  • Provide application and operations support (includes an on-call rotation)
  • Define, manage, and analyze server metrics and system logs
  • Write software (primarily in Ruby) to automate everything
  • Evangelize security
  • Evangelize automation
  • Update software and services
  • Support our continuous integration systems including Jenkins, Artifactory, and Hockey App
  • Support operationally dependent services such as Jira and Confluence
  • Backup all systems and perform annual disaster recovery exercises
  • Continuously challenge and improve yourself
  • Build strong relationships with your teammates
  • Research tools and technologies to improve processes and services
  • Work with project teams (including developers and QA) to deploy custom application software
  • Add to and improve documentation
  • Be awesome, grow amazingly, have some fun!

Skills & Requirements:

  • Experience with Linux server maintenance/upkeep
  • 2+ years of *nix systems administration experience
  • Experience with configuration management tools
  • Experience with git
  • Expert bash scripting
  • Experience installing and configuring software packages
  • Experience with a scripting language like Ruby, Python, Perl etc.
  • Experience with monitoring tools
  • Experience with PKI
  • Knowledge of Docker containers
  • Knowledge of virtualization (VMware, VirtualBox, etc)
  • Knowledge of network and system security best practices
  • Experience supporting environments of 10+ servers

Bonus Points:

  • Chef / AWS OpsWorks experience
  • Experience using Mac environments
  • Mobile industry experience
  • Experience with Jenkins or other continuous integration systems
